10 Rules of
Bricolage

Perfection is not the goal. The tinkering is the goal.

Not fully finished doesn't mean it cannot be shown. There is value in sharing a work in progress.

Conversely, fully finished doesn't mean it cannot be changed. There is always more room for tinkering.

The process is supposed to be fun. There is no obligation to do any particular thing.

It's okay to put something aside till you figure out how to get it to work.

You make do with what you have in hand.

You can use whatever you have at hand. You can throw the kitchen sink at something to make it work.

You first get it to work. Bells and whistles come later (if ever).

Bells and whistles can be the point. Nothing you make needs to be useful. It only needs to interest you.

Even these rules can be tinkered with.
